About Our Practice

Dr. Christopher J. Edelen, a Louisville native, joined the orthodontic practice of Dr. William Selden in July 1985 and served as a junior partner for 5 years until Dr. Selden's retirement in 1990. In 1956 Dr. William Selden had joined the practice of his father, Dr. Joseph Selden, who actually started the practice in 1924 as one of Louisville's first orthodontists. His unwavering commitment to clinical excellence in orthodontic treatment still stands as the cornerstone of our practice today and is the main reason for our continued success some 3 generations later.

In the era of managed care, closed panels of "Preferred Providers" and misleading radio and T.V. advertisements for orthodontic treatment, we continue to see our new patients on word of mouth and reputation only. 75% of our new patients have been referred to us by their general dentists and 25% are referred from one of our current or former patients. A referral of a new patient is the finest compliment a doctor can ever receive, and we take great pride in the confidence the dental community has placed in us.
